American citizens don't need to have a visa to visit Dubai, their regular passport will work. But they will eligible if they have:

• Confirmed round-trip airline ticket.

Eligibility of NON-US citizens:

• Original passport having validity of 6th months.
• Airline tickets
• GCC ( Gulf Cooperation Countries) nationalists do not require a visa to visit Dubai. A permit is needed.
• Tourist visa is available for all for a short period of time from 96 hours to 14 days or up to 90 days.

Time Period

Visit Visa:

Duration of the visit visa is 14 days but if someone wants to extend the duration then it is extendable to 30 days (short term) or to 90 days (long term). An extra fee has to be paid along with the visa fee which will be refundable when the person leaves the country.

Multiple-entry Visa:

The duration of this visa is 6 months and the time period for stay is 30 days. This kind of visa is non-renewable.

Transit Visa:

These have a short duration of up to 96 hours for the people staying in Dubai only.

Dubai Visa Rules & Regulation:

 

Dubai has certain policies for foreign visitors, here are the list:

• The immigration law of Dubai requires all travellers belonging to other nationalities to apply for a visa prior to their entry in the country.
• Duration of the visit visa is 14 days but if someone wants to extend the duration then it is extendable to 30 days (short term) or to 90 days (long term). An extra fee has to be paid along with the visa fee which will be refundable when the person leaves the country.
• A tourist visa is valid for 30 days, but in case a visa holder extends their stay for more than the agreed time period on a non-renewable visa, they will be required to pay a fine for every extra day of stay along with an additional charge for an out pass.
• The Dubai Immigration Authorities offer multi-entry visas to the passengers of cruise ships, in case their itinerary requires them to enter the country on more than one occasion, in a single trip. This visa is valid for a period of 6 months from the date of issue and allows a stay of a maximum of 30 days upon each entry.
• A transit visa to Dubai is issued for travellers stopping at any of the UAE airports for a minimum of 8 hours.

• The passport should be valid for at least 6 months from the date of return in India, with a minimum of two blank pages.
